Awards and Recognitions:
John Evans has received numerous awards and recognitions.
He has received the Colorado Library Association Recognition of Support in 1998, the Phi Delta Kappa District V, Coordinators Certificate of Merit, and Resolution of Commendation for School Administrative Leadership in Education.
The United Veterans Committee twice recognized him as the Outstanding Legislator in Colorado.
The Colorado Water Shed Assembly recognized him for his environmental work preserving Colorado’s precious water resources.
The Natural Fuels Corporation recognized him for work on legislation regarding alternative fueled vehicles.
The National Association of Oil and Gas Royalty Owners recognized John for his work on Oil and Gas Regulation in Colorado.
The Colorado Bar Association recognized him for his reform of the Probate Code and for his work on Trusts.
The AARP awarded Evans their top citation for his work to reduce taxes for senior citizens.
The Civil Justice League recognized Evans for his work to reduce frivolous law suits.
Community Service:
In 1994, John Evans was elected to the Colorado State Board of Education. In 1999, John was elected State Senator representing Douglas, Elbert, Eastern Arapahoe and Southern Jefferson Counties.
He served as a founder of School Leaders for America, Inc. This organization trains principals in Colorado. He also founded the Western Institute for Agricultural Land Use, the Sagebrush Forum and helped found the Agricultural Rural Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association serving as chair and on the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association.
